In the afternoon I got on a train to Yurakucho from where I had a walk past the Emperor’s garden and palace. It was a beautiful day and I wanted to make the best of it. I was on my way to Black Duck UG Japan seminar. They provide a tool for us that is very much related to my work as an Open Source Officer, so I wanted to see what other companies in Japan were doing with the tool.
It was quite OK seminar, though I could understand only 25% of it because it was in Japanese. Anyway, Alan Facey is Black Duck’s Head of Field Operations and he held a keynote speech in English. I got that a 100% π After the seminar I had a chance to talk to Alan as well, which was a nice fellow. He confirmed my view on the level of Open Source maturity in Japan and in the mobile device industry supply chain.
So you are an “officer” now. π
I like the name “Black duck”.
Yes, and officer and a gentleman π The name Black Duck is from the founder having a black duck as a pet. I now have two rubber black ducks in the bath tub π
