For anyone of you that have planned to read Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged but hesitated because 1100 pages or so book in very small text seems overwhelming. Well, your wait is over… At least soon. Atlas Shrugged is coming to a theater near you. Starting with Part 1 on April 15. Then you just have to wait for the other 500 or so parts ๐
I’ve tried to read Atlas Shrugged but it’s very slow from the beginning.
I think that Ayn Rand has some interesting ideas with her “objectivism”.
It is a bit slow reading at times, and quite a few pages to cover ๐
I read parts of Atlas Shrugged when I was very young, and reread fully in my 30’s. I was suprised by how much of my personal philosophies had been inspired by the book, which I had nearly forgotten. I have always been something of a “rebel” and long rejected the compulsion of society and religion to demand self sacrifice and conformity for the common, or “greater” good. Guilt is the mainstay of control and it is applied with a heavy glove by those who seek power over the individual, usually those who are expounding the responsibility and merits of putting someone or something else first. Put yourself first, and all else will follow.
It’s an interesting book, Randall, I agree with you on that.
