Busy Day

Today was a busy day. Chie has been working a lot lately so to help out I have cooked all food today. Break fast and dinner. Besides that I have updated all our iPads and iPod Touches, though that is more fun work than hard work 😉

In between breakfast and dinner, Chie and I also went to Tokyu Store for grocery shopping. And after that we went to Don Quijote to buy groceries, water and other things to bring to the Tohoku area. Actually we have been doing this during the whole week as some things like water is limited to 1-2 2L bottles per person.

These things we will bring to a person we have come in contact with, Ishihara-san, that has organized collection of groceries and other items to ship them to the Tohoku area for people that are now living in shelters after the earthquake. After our vacation to Hawaii in little over a week I will try to engage more in this kind of activities. Ishihara-san is arranging for trucks to go to a small place in the Tohoku area once a week so there will be plenty of opportunities to help out.

Shake, Rattle & Roll

It started out slowly for quite some time before it jolted the building a bit before slowing down again. It was another after-shock. This time 5.9 in magnitude at the epicenter located between Tochigi-ken and Ibaraki-ken. Here in Tokyo it was around 4 on the JMA seismic intensity scale.

Japan Quake Map

An interesting site is the Japan Quake Map where you can run a simulation of the earthquakes since early morning March 11, 2011. If you go there please notice how everything changes at 14:46 JST. Play around using the < < to slow down and >> to speed up the simulation. It is a safe way to experience a lot of earthquakes.

One Month

It is now one month ago since the Tohoku 9.0 earthquake. It was honored with a silent minute at 2:46 pm today. Mother earth wanted to have a saying in it as well. And added quite a few after-quakes to the gozillions of after-quakes she has already provided.

I have to say, I am getting a bit tired of it. I am seriously considering to stop buying eco-friendly things. I cannot even start to imagine how the people living in the Tohoku area are feeling.

The biggest after-quake today was 7.1 and just outside Fukushima. On some 40 km depth.

Another One

At 23:36 I was abruptly woken from my beauty sleep, to which I had fallen just a few minutes earlier. Another earthquake. This was one of the biggest (7.4) since the great Tohoku earthquake almost 4 weeks ago.

Once I realized that neither Chie nor I would die today… I went back to sleep.
