New Year’s Evening

A great day in Tokorozawa again. The sun was shining so Coco and I had a long walk again. And as usual it was not easy to get a photo of Coco. He totally hates taking photos, and it makes you feel like a paparazzi. Though sometimes you catch him off guard, like when he is relaxing at home after a walk 🙂

After the walk we drove to the Tokorozawa fish market. It is nothing compared to the fish market in Tsukiji (biggest in the world) but it is still quite busy during the New Year.

For dinner we had hand rolled sushi and crab. As usual. But hey, if it tastes good it tastes good every year 🙂

Unfortunately I was so tired that I could not stay up and wait for the new year. I just got to bed at 10:30 pm and slept instead

Going to Tokorozawa for New Year

Today we went to Tokorozawa for the New Year. Once we got there I as usual took Coco for a long walk. He seemed to enjoy it, the photo session with me being the exception. Oh, this is a nice feature of my new iPod Touch… Using the front camera to take a photo of yourself so that you can see what you are doing (though the quality is not the best).

As per our tradition we had shabu-shabu for dinner. Same procedure as last year 🙂 It may seem boring to have the same food before New Year every year but, in my opinion, you can never have too much shabu-shabu. It is delicious 😛

Taking Coco on a Walk

We went to Tokorozawa this weekend. The weather was fine on Saturday, with a blue sky. Sunday was a little bit more cloudy but still fine. Both days I took Coco for a walk… In his new clothes.

By the way, how do you take a photo of a dog that hate cameras? You put him on a rock from where he cannot escape. Then you take a lot, and I mean, a lot of pictures when he is moving his head around trying to avoid the camera lens. What you cannot do anything about though, is the tail down between his legs. Or maybe I bring a steel wire the next time 😉

Nagatoro

We had expected rain yesterday but it never came. Instead the sky was blue without a cloud in sight. Then today, but again there was no sight of rain. So we decided to take Coco on a short road trip to Nagatoro.

We have been there before in 2008, about the same time. BUt this year has been warmer so the autumn has not progressed as much this year as then. The result? Colorful!

The drive there was just short of 2 hours, including some traffic jam caused by an accident that there was no visible evidence of. For those more inclined to conspiracy theories than I am may have made up some paranoid idea about that this being the authorities way to control people. Let them spend half an hour extra in the car so they will be happy just to comply to any absurd idea we have. They will be sooooo happy just to get out of the traffic jam. But not me. I am not like that.

Once we arrived in Nagatoro we spent two hours or so walking around in the nature. The air was fresh and the nature was beautiful and colorful. Though there were quite a lot of other people there as well.

After we spent time around the river and in the small village with some shopping stores we walked up towards Hodo-san (Hodo mountain) and the shrine located just at its base. 2 years ago the shrine was closed for renovation but it was not opened again. Dogs were not allowed in so Chie and Coco took a rest while I entered the shrine.

Autumn in Tokorozawa

Chie and I drove to Tokorozawa today. As soon as we were there I took Coco for a walk in the beautiful autumn weather. Blue sky and 18 degrees.

You can see some of the blue sky behind the pink flowers.
