A Day at the Kiahuna Beach

Back again at our absolute favorite beach. It is always quite crowded here, but still a million light years away from Japanese beaches. Still we enjoy this beach because it is always big waves that is safe to play in.

At the end of the day a guy came up to us and said “Hey, how are you doin’?”. Then he gave us two beach chairs :-O. It turned out they had gotten the chairs from someone and tomorrow they were leaving the island so they wanted to return the gift to someone else.

At 5 pm we returned home to prepare dinner. Today it was pasta puttanesca. But before finalizing it we had a short walk down to the ocean to watch the sunset.

Then we had pasta puttanesca until we were so full we could not move.

Moloa Bay

One of our favorite beaches is the Moloa Bay beach. It has nice shadow under the palm trees and a beautiful view over green hills a blue-green ocean. It took us about an hour to drive there, in a slow Hawaiian style of driving with a lot of shaka signs whenever needed… And sometimes when not needed as well, just for the fun of it.

The 1 hour drive was well worth it as always. The Moloa bay is located on the east-north-east coast in very lush area. Quite isolated and always almost empty. As today.

We spent most of the day reading and relaxing. And some time we spent in the ocean swimming, and floating around like monk seals too.

On our way back to Poipu we stopped in Kapa’a town to shop some groceries, and some bikini tops. At Safeway they had some charity going on, called Cop Top. They had some police men standing on the roof shouting in a megaphone.

Chie had a hard time seeing them. At first she could not understand how someone could comment on all the things she was doing walking from the car to the store. I had quite a fun time though 😀

Once back home we (Chie) prepared Japanese curry for dinner. My job is the prepare breakfast and lunch every day, and to do the dishes.

Back at Poipu Beach

Chie and I spent the day in sunny Poipu at the Poipu beach. It is one of the most crowded beaches in Kauai. Still, there is plenty of room for everyone on the beach and in the water.

As many other days at Poipu beach we got company. Today two sea turtles joined us. Just 5 meters away from where we lay.

I think the jet lag is going away. Today Chie and I were a little bit more active. We had a swim for 20 minutes or so. Not much, but hey, it is vacation after all 😉

At around 4:30 pm it started to rain. What happened to sunny Poipu? We packed our things and went home, just stopping by a grocery store to buy tomatoes and cucumbers for our lunch tomorrow.

When we got back home sunny Poipu was back 😎 While Chie took a shower I was sitting at the terrace. Reading a book and drinking Sobe.

For dinner we had anchovy, olive cream sauce pasta. Yummy.

A Day at the Kawailoa Bay

Chie and I are quite good at doing nothing. We are so good at it we can do it in the sleep. We started last night, and continued throughout the day today.

The beach at Kowailoa bay is quite a nice place do nothing at. So after doing nothing at home we went to Kowailoa bay. Running our rented cheap Hyundai (no power lock, mechanical window controls, mechanical back mirror controls, etc.) very slowly on the bumpy dirt road.

At around 5 pm it was finally time to do something. We drove back home and then went to the grocery store. Buying groceries for dinner, which tonight was beef steak and salad 😛

Bye, Bye Tokyo

Left office at 4:30 pm and it was a relief. Walking slowly to the Shinagawa station without anything but vacation on my mind. And chocolate… I was quite hungry.

Chie and I got on the Narita Express. Arrived at Narita airport. Checked in. And went to the Delta Lounge to relax. Chie had some wine. I had some ginger ale. And we both had some salad and sandwich.

Flying to Honolulu was made in a blink. I could sleep very well, in business class 🙂

Arriving in Honolulu it was 24 degrees and sunny 😎 We went to the hotel, checked in and went out to do some shopping. Chie found some clothes and cosmetics while I bought some shorts at my favorite sports shop (Lululemons)

I also tried to by an iPad, but it was sold out 🙁 Better luck next time, huh?

In the evening we had dinner at Take-no-ko Japanese restaurant. It is one of the best restaurants in Honolulu. Very tasty.

Before going to bed I tried a new drink I never tried before. Neuro Sleep with melatonin. The drink was supposed to help get into a normal sleeping rhythm. I don’t know if it really helps, but it tasted bad and I slept like a log.
