Got up late and skipped the Farmer’s Market to go directly to Moloa Bay. The day was beautiful with lots of sun, some wind to cool it down a notch, and a lot of sand. We had a fun time.
On our way home we got caught in a traffic jam so instead of crawling forward we stopped at Brick Oven Pizza for dinner. It was quite OK, and when we were finished the traffic jam was no more. Great!
One of Chie’s and my favorite beaches is Moloa Bay so today we took Robert there. Not only did Robert seem to like it too, but a one year old female Hawaiian Monk Seal seemed to like it too. She had arrived before we got there and was still there when we left.
We spent most of the day here, relaxing, swimming, reading and exploring the beach. At around 5 pm we packed our thing, said good bye to the seal and drove back to Poipu, after a brief stop at Safeway for grocery shopping.
Today was the second day at Kauai that we missed the sunset. We spent too much time on the beach (if that is something you can actually do) and too much time in the grocery store (yeah, that I can believe) so we were back home passed 6:30 pm. Though sunset aftermath was still quite beautiful.
In the morning we drove up to Moloa Bay again. It was as great as usual until around 3 pm when it got really overcast and dark, looking like rain was coming.
So by 3:30 pm we packed up and went back home. Stopping only to buy groceries and some kalbi (Korean short ribs).
We returned home too early for dinner so we took minimal of things with us and walked to a small beach about 5 minutes away. There we watched the boogie boarders riding the waves. When that got boring we read some.
By 7 pm we were back home again, preparing dinner. Grilled kalbi, kimchi, rice and salad.
One of our favorite beaches is the Moloa bay. It’s a long horse shoe shaped beach along a small bay on the east-north-east coast. The beach is in total about 500 meters of sand and there are usually very few people there. Today it was actually a bit crowded as there were about 20 people there… And a dog.
The dog had a large stick that she wanted thrown into the water. At some point Chie was closest to her so she wagged her tail and looked so playful and pleading like just a dog can look. Chie succumb to her pleading and threw the stick into the water. But not far enough… Before Chie was back in her chair the dog was back at her side ready to play again.
At 5:30 pm we left the beach, did some grocery shopping, and went home. We had pasta with anchovy, olive cream sauce, and salad. Yummy.
Every morning Chie’s friend Eli(sabeth) comes by with her family. And Chie feeds her and her family. It’s a ritual that has been ongoing for quite a few years now. At first it was only Eli but now it is her kids as well.
Once Eli and family was fed we packed our car and went to Moloa Bay. There it was windy and we were soon covered by sand, or at least that was how it felt.
By noon heavy rain clouds were drifting in and we decided to go back south. To Poipu were it is always sunny (almost). We went to Kiahuna and spent the rest if the day there, reading and swimming.
At 5:45 pm we went back home. Made dinner. Omu-rice and spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncino. Then we did exactly what we done every other day… Relaxed 😉
