Valentine’s Day Dinner

Today Chie and I went to KotoKoto for a Valentine’s Day dinner. The observant reader may notice that the date of the post is actually the 15th, a day late. Yes, we had Valentine’s Day dinner a day late! Yesterday I had a meeting until 7:30 pm 🙁

I had asked my boss the week before if we had the meeting as planned because I was considering Monday night for a private appointment. His answer was that “yes, we have the meeting”. Totally oblivious to the significance of my question in relation to what day it was 😉

Enough about job and more about the dinner. It was great. Chie is my favorite girl all time and KotoKoto is one of our favorite restaurants. Period.

Snowing in Tokyo :-O

Monday night. By coinsidence Chie is looking out of the window and, to our surprise, it is snowing. And the ground is covered by snow. And it is Tokyo :-O

First snow of this winter. Most likely it will be gone by tomorrow morning. No need to run the sports stores to buy cross country skis. But I am thinking about a snowboard… To bring to Shiga-kogen when I am going there on Friday 🙂

Stuffy Nose in Tokorozawa

I got a cold on Thursday and on Friday morning I brought it with me when Chie and I went to Tokorozawa to visit Coco. I am not sure if he recognized that I was not feeling well because he spent an unusual amount of time with me. Sleeping in my lap, sleeping on the back of the chair I was sitting in and so on.

When Coco did not spend time with in my lap he spent time in Chie’s lap. And all of the time he was doing his best to be cute. And trying his best to steal q-tips and paper tissues.

Coco is a cute dog but he hates getting his picture taken. he does pretty much anything to get away from paparazzis, well usually it is only me or Chie taking a photo. But he is moving, turning, running, or jumping to get away from us and the camera.

On Sunday I felt better so I got into all clothes that I brought to Tokorozawa. Then I toke Coco for a walk in the beautiful weather. He seemed to enjoy it. And so did I 🙂

Social Network & Yodakimbo

What better to do on a Saturday than going to the movies. Chie and I made our way to Roppongi Hills and the Toho cinema there. We watched the Social Network. Though it was interesting to see, at least to some extent, the story behind Facebook the best part of the movie was the popcorn 🙂

When we were done with the movie we strolled around the Roppongi Hills for a while before going back to Naka-Meguro for dinner. Our destination was Yodakimpo, though today it was explained for us that it is actually not PO but BO – Yodakimbo. The food was as delicious as usual though 😛

Old STEP People Party

Directly after work I met with Chie and Kishinami-sensei outside the Shinagawa-station to take a taxi the Hagoromo restaurant in the Ginza/Shimbashi area. It was a rare opportunity to meet Kishinami-sensei as he live and work in Hokkaido.

Chie had gathered about 12 people that have worked with Kishinami-sensei to support STEP (STandard for the Exchange of Product model data) development in Japan. A work carried out under ISO (International Organization for Standardization). And that is how I am involved with this group of people.

We had a 6000 YEN course, including free drinks for 2 hours. Though we manage to stay there for 3.5 hours and then we got thrown out 🙂

Anyway, it was a fun time to meet with mostly old faces. And also some new faces. I had a chance also to talk with Suzuki-sensei who shared the same lab with Kimura-sensei when I came to Japan in 2003. Though he moved to Komaba campus not long after that.

Once we had been thrown out we continued to High-Ball for some drinks. Then Chie and I took Kishinami-sensei back to his hotel where we finished the evening on 39th floor, with some drinks and some chocolate. In summary, it was very nice evening.
