Herb & Dorothy

Chie and I went with Non-san and Ryo-san to a small movie theatre to watch an independent movie, Herb & Dorothy. The movie was about Herb & Dorothy Vogel, an ordinary couple in New York was it not for their passion to collect art. Since they met in 1960 they have on their small salaries collected more than 4000 art objects, and now given it away to the National Gallery of Art.

The movie was a documentary and so so. But it was interesting to see how passionate they were about art. Basically they had given up on anything else in life than art. Once they gave the whole collection away to National Gallery of Art they had to use 5 long trucks to get all the art out of their small apartment. No one of the people involved in moving the art out could believe how all that art fit into the apartment.

Afterwards we went to a Korean restaurant in Shibuya for dinner. And then to Fujiya, a 100 year old restaurant chain, for ice cream.

Yodakimpo

On Thursday Josef, a work colleague from Lund, came for a 2-days workshop. We “celebrated” his visit at Yodakimpo tonight. Josef, Chie and I had a lot of good food. We talked and had a fun time for 4 hours before we took a taxi home.

勝った! (We Won!) v(^o^)

After a nail biting game we went into overtime. And Janikowski finished the game with a 33 yards field goal \(^o^)/

Now we are celebrating at Ricky’s Sports Bar, and just had a visit by Jeff Barnes and Jack Squirek. Two X-Raiders players with super bowl rings. Jack (left below) caught an interception for a touch down in super bowl against Redskins. Jeff (right below) has two Super Bowl rings with the Raiders. For some reason they seemed to like Chie and Kick-san more than us guys, I have no idea why 😉

A Not So Usual Day

Usually when we visit San Francisco to watch football we spend Saturday afternoon at Ricky’s and the evening preparing for our Sunday game tail gate party. But this year the weather forecast says heavy rain on game day. So this year we skip the tail gate party.

This means a lot more time to relax. So we spent the day eating lunch at Yuraku ramen. Then a visit to Raider Image to buy some Raider gears. And then some, but only some, grocery shopping before we spent the rest of the evening at the hotel watching college football.
