Magic Machine

It may seem like a normal vending machine, but instead of the usual sample bottles in the “window” there is a 47″ touch panel displaying all items you can buy. In addition, when you approach the machine it scans and analyzes you and suggests a few drinks it think may be what you want, or maybe what you need.

Martin (a work colleague) went to the Shinagawa station for lunch today. Of course we had to try the new vending machine too. It suggested green tea, water, and some miracle medicine for me. I picked green tea.

Martin got so nervous he picked a CC Lemon, a sweet lemon soft drink with about as much C-vitamin you can get into a bottle of 500 ml.

I wanted to try the suggestions again so I approached the machine one more time. All the suggestions where there again, except the green tea. Either the machine recognized me (“You AGAIN? Well, this time you don’t get the green tea!”), or it recognized the green tea bottle I had in my hand.

Either way, it was a quite fun way of spending 130 Yen. And for bonus you got a bottle of green tea 😀

Our Harry Potter Toilet

Another post in the toilet series of posts. But I am fascinated by our new toilet. And want to share the fascination with you.

The toilet must be from the Harry Potter world, because it is magic. You sit down. Do your business. Stand up. And the toilet comes to life and flushes… Without you doing anything, besides being on your way to wash you hands (you always do don’t you?). Just like magic!

Our New Hybrid Toilet

Yes, you read the title correctly. Our new toilet is a hybrid toilet. What that actually means I can only guess. In our old toilet we could do number 1 and number 2 so that must not be what they mean with hybrid.

Instead I think it is because it uses both water and vacuum to flush. Just as a toilet in a commercial airplane. Though the vacuum is not so… Empty(? or may strong is a better word ;-)) as in the airplanes.

So when it flushes there is a “squirl-whomp” sound. And whatever you did is gone. I wish it was that easy when you made a mistake… “squirl-whomp” and whatever mistake I did is gone (though I rarely make mistakes ;-)).

After…

I always keep my promises! Though sometimes it may take a while. Like this time. A while back when I wrote the Before… post I promised to also show the bathroom after the renovation. Well, here you are…

…The control panel. From which you can control all the satellites in the Universe. Or at least the water you want to clean your butt with, and the hot air to dry your but afterwards and million other things that I have no clue about. The difficult part with these things in Japan is that the manuals are exclusively in Japanese 🙁

Gamarjobat @ Otodama Sea Studio

Chie and I went to Zushi beach today. It is a beach closer to the train station than Ishiki beach that we usually goes to, which we have to take a final 20 minutes or so bus ride. And that makes a big difference in crowd.

Zushi beach was packed!

At around 2 pm we had a shower. Changed to non-swim wear. And went to meet Non and Ryo at the Otodama Sea Studio, about 100 meters from where we had stayed during the day. It was Gamarjobat time. The show was HOT. As in temperature hot. We all sweated a lot, but most of all Gamarjobat was wet through all their clothing. It was fun, though the other shows that we have seen have been more fun.

As always, we also have dinner together. But around Zushi beach there are not so many restaurants that we really wanted to visit. So we went to Ebisu and visited Mai Thai. Yummy!
