Flowers of Tokorozawa

I have been reading some books on photography the last few weeks. So when going to Tokorozawa this weekend I brought the camera to try some new things. The circumstances were not the best since I had Coco on one hand and the camera in the other. And most books mentioned something about a tripod and always.

But it was a overcast day and I found some nice flowers. And all books mentioned that overcast brings out the colors in flowers. And gives that soft light that makes the pictures nice.

Coco resting

Afterwards Coco was kind of tired. He rested on his favorite place. On top of Chie’s choulder in the reclining chair in the kitchen.

Coco – The “Very Special” Dog

Chie and I went to Yasaka for dinner today. As usual we talked about many different things while eating and relaxing. One of the subjects were Coco. When he was a puppy I was not in Japan more than on short vacations.

Chie and her mother wanted to teach Coco some manner so they brought him to a manner school. When they picked him up after a week they were greated by the principle of the school. She handed them Coco and said that Coco is a “very special” dog.

At first Chie and her mother were pleased. Coco was not only special but “very special”. It turned out that “very special” most often is not a positive adjective. It became obvious when the school refunded the tuition fee Chie had paid. And Coco continued to behave as the “very special” dog he is.

I laughed so much I almost dropped of the chair at Yasaka. It was like a Holywood movie. But for real. And both Chie and I agree that Coco is “very special”… And we LOVE him.

Nube

Nube (almost like the Swedish “nubbe” which means snaps) is a very likable restaurant in Sangen-jaya, only two stations out of Shibuya. But it makes all the difference. Where Shibuya is busy with people, teenagers, and wanna-be-hip people, Sangen-jaya is not. It is calm and relaxed neighborhood.

Mori & Mina

Chie and I were going to Nube to meet Mina-sensei and Mori-san for dinner. Mori-san is a classmate of mine at Mina-sensei’s tea ceremony class.

The specialty of Nube is smoked things. From pork to Japanese omelette. We tried many different things during the evening and most was really good. But best was the atmosphere and the friendly owners, two guys also working in the restaurant.

We had a fun time at Nube. Talking. Laughing. Eating. Just enjoying the company after a long week of work.

As always when you have fun time flies. Suddenly it was midnight and we had to get home before our ride turned into a pumpkin. We were just in time (probably since we are in a different time zone than Cinderella).

Weekend in Tokorozawa

It’s been a few weeks since we visited Coco now so it was about time. I think Coco was of the same opinion. Especially considering how crazy happy he seemed when we arrived.

Days spent relaxing, playing with Coco, and walking with Coco. Oh, we spent quite a lot of time eating too

Going Home

All good things comes to an end. Today we left Kauaii and went back home to Tokyo via Honolulu. We had to leave Poipu Plantation already around 5 am. No breakfast. But we had prepared Sandwiches the night before that we had at the airport.

After a 30 minutes flight we were back in Honolulu. We could see a lot of Japanese people. You could main recognize them by the mask they were wearing. Hmm, I think the news about swine flu have reached the Japanese news sites.

Once back at Narita (Japan) it was obvious that swine flu was taken seriously by the Japanese authorities. We could see people prepared to take care of sick people. They were dressed in blue clothes from top to toe. Wearing masks and googles.

The only thing for us to do was to go home. And have some BBQ pork at Yasaka for dinner.

Oh, I almost forgot… The Northwest/Delta crew on our flight… One of the best crews ever. Not only were they polite and friendly the whole flight, but Chie and I also got a bottle of Champagne to bring with us home 🙂
