Bowling

In Shinagawa there is a Prince Hotel. In the Prince Hotel there is a bowling hall. Today, in that bowling hall Chie and I and 2 work colleagues (Ueno-san and Kyo-san) had a bowling bout. The winner… … … Will be… Announced in the next paragraph.

OK, I lied. Who won is not important. The important thing is that we had a fun time. Chie scored a strike in her first ball. Which was her first ball in many years. Everyone was cheering.

Bowling makes you hungry. So when we had finished at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel we walked to the Devi Corner. An Indian restaurant. The food was good. And we talked about Kyo-san and his girlfriend in Hong Kong (both are Chinese), and about Ueno-san and his wife meeting at a martial art club, and we looked at some pictures from Chie and me in Morocco on my iPod Touch. And I had mango lassi 🙂

Tokorozawa

The most memorable thing from this weekend trip to Tokorozawa, besides visiting Coco-chan, was the colors. All from white, through pink red to yellow. It’s spring in Tokorozawa too.

I walked with Coco both Saturday and Sunday and it was great to be out in the warm weather. On Sunday we found a rock to sit on. Just relaxing in the sun 🙂

Japanese People are Crazy

It’s the time of the year when people in Japan go crazy. It’s sakura (cherry blossom) time. They find a place anywhere in parks, on the walkways or stairs. Wherever, and sit there drinking beer, sake, and eat food. And do hanami (flowe watching).

Chie and I walked to the Naka-Meguro station to watch sakura too. And to watch people. And there were so many people there it looked like Smile town in Harajuku during summer break. But it was fun and the cherry trees were at their peak blossom. Thousands and thousands of white and pink flowers.

And who can blame people for acting crazy when sakura is so beautiful and promising of spring and warmth.

Spring is Here!

Finally the spring has arrived in Tokyo. It was announced on the TV news yesterday. And this morning the cherry trees seemed to have heard those news and thought “well if it is spring then we better sakimasu (to blossom)”.
