Raider Nation Japan

Met Mash-san outside of Yoshinoya in Yurakucho at 4 pm. It was really cold in the wind and we had to wait for a while before every one arrived. From Yoshinoya it was a 5 minute walk to Sanshuya in Ginza.

Sanshuya turned out to be a quit cheap Japanese restaurant with good food. We had many different things to eat and talked about Raiders and football.

At around 7 pm we continued to The Rocks, a bar/redtaurant in Ginza. Here we had more to eat and more to talk about. Although the subjects were still Raiders and football. And as always, the newcomer fell asleep.

Around 10:30 pm I was back home. As you may have noticed I then updated this blog. Not only the look but also a new version of WordPress. And now I am writing this blog with my new iTouch Christmas gift from bed 🙂 Good night!

Returning to Tokyo

After many days of holiday we returned to Tokyo today. We were afraid that the express way would not live up to its name. But there was no traffic jam. And we got back to Tokyo in about an hour.

A Dog Park Day

Waking up in the morning it was 4 degrees again. While trying my best to keep all body parts under the blanket I dressed. Had breakfast. And Coco, Chie and I got ready to go to the dog park.

Before going into the dog park though we walked around the old air field. And Coco could run freely. Something he really enjoyed. Chie walked away 30 meters or so while I held Coco. Then let him go and he flashed away to Chie.

Then it was time for the dog park. The idea was to get Coco exhausted enough to not care about the other dogs. But he was as scared of them as always. The first chance he got and he jumped up in Chie’s lap.

Coco seemed to not want to leave Chie’s lap so after a while we walked back to the car. And drove to Chie’s father’s grave.

New Year’s Day

The most important thing to do for the new year is to go to the shrine or temple to get a tiger. The tiger will protect you from bad luck and illness during the year. This has been a tradition for Chie and me during the last 7 years or so. And Coco has been included since last year.

This year was no exception. We walked with Coco to the temple. On the way we took a detour so that Coco could run free for a while. Something he enjoys very much.

Arriving at the temple the people usually wash their hands before praying or whatever they are doing at the temple. We took a picture of the dragon providing the water washing the visitor’s hands. In difference from western dragons the Japanese dragons are not considered evil. So instead of breathing fire and kill people thins dragon just enables people to wash their hands.

Then we did our main business at the temple. The tiger. We got one for each of us, Coco, Chie and me. As you can see we were not the only ones wanting protection.

In the evening we had traditional New Year’s day food (osechi). Usually the stores are closed for a few days during New Year in Japan. So there is a need to have food that can be preserved for a few days. This is what we had for dinner.
