Omatsuri-festival in Nezu

In February my brother Jimmy and his wife Emma is coming to Tokyo. Today Chie and I went to Nezu to check the Sawanoya ryokan for them. It is located in Nezu on the east side of Tokyo. Here the atmosphere is more relaxed and they try to keep the old buildings and old traditions.

When we got to the Nezu station we saw some posters anouncing that it was the Omotsuri-festival (summer festival) in Nezu. And when we got out of the subway station we could here BONG-BONG, TOK-TOK-TOK, BONG-BONG-BONG from some taiko (drum) echoing between the buildings. We went in on a side street to see what was making the all the noise.

We followed them for a while and then continued to the Nezu temple. We had soma tako-yaki to eat. Walked around for a while. And then continued to the Sawanoya ryokan.

The ryokan was really nice. Friendly. And they spoke some English as well. They had a newly installed Japanese style bath with a view of a small garden outside. It was really nice. We think Jimmy and Emma will love it here.
