First Day at Sony Ericsson

Today was my first day at Sony Ericsson Mobile Communiation Japan. I started at 10 am with a meeting with my HR contact person Tamura-san. We went through company regulations and contract and many other things.

By 11 am I was at my desk. With a new PC. In an open office landscape on the 11th floor of the W-building in Shinigawa. It took a few hours to setup the PC with passwords, mapping server disks to the PC, and so on. The last hours of the day I tried to surf the Intranet to get a feeling of the company.

I met Chie at the gym after her aerobics class. I arrived late and had a shorter than planned chest and back exercise. Still managed to go through most of the sets.

Final Holiday

Today was my last day of my very short in-between work holidays. I spent it having lunch with Chie in Kamiyacho. And getting a multiple re-entry permit at the immigration office in Shinagawa. And going to Konami Sports in Aomono-yokocho not far from Shinagawa.

Finally, the day ended by having dinner with Chie and Tsuchiya-san at Tohachi in Naka-meguro. Tohachi is quite an old restaurant that have a friendly staff, and good food to a very reasonable price. And it is still family owned.

Isshiki Beach

Chie took a day off today to spend it with me. Our first stop was at the Meguro Ward City Hall where I applied for an alien registration card. It took about 15 minutes and then we were on our way to Isshiki Beach. It took about an hour and half to get there by Tokyu line train to Yokohama where we transferred to Keikyu line train to Shinzushi station. From there it was a 20 minutes ride by bus on narrow street to the Isshiki Beach.

First stop was the Blue Moon to have a lunch, a beer, and a Wilkinson dry ginger ale. Spicy. After lunch we walk along the beach to UmiGoya Annex where we stayed all dya long. UmiGoya Annex was next to the summer residence of the emperor. Unfortunately he was not there this time.

It was quite a hot day so it was really nice to get into the water. Even though it was warm too. And not as clear as in Hawaii. But we had a fun time.

By 3:40 pm we returned back to Naka-meguro. Before having our last dinner out for a while we stopped by the Konami Sports to reopen my membership. Then we had a dinner at Iroha-sushi.

Red Pepper

Our plan today was to go to the beach. And we got all the way to Naka-meguro station and a breakfast at Starbucks. Then the weather got more or less bad, kind of cold (not like in Sweden though) and cloudy. So we decided to stay at home and organize my things and move some things to our new storage room.

It was a good decsion becuase soon after we arrived back home it started to rain. And continued through the afternoon. And in the evening while we were walking to Red Pepper where we had dinner. Dry tomato. Green and black olives marinated in olive oil and herbs. Nicoise salad. Princess pizza (not on the menu). And steak in tomato and herb sauce. For desert Chie had a grappa and we both had parmesan cheeze.

It was nice to be back at Red Pepper. It was a long time since I’ve been there now. And although the people I got to know did no longer work there the new people were as nice.

Arriving in Tokyo

Today was the big moving day. I got on a flight on Arlanda at 10:15 am yesterday. Had a transfer in Vienna and arrived in Tokyo 8:15 am this morning.

I thought it would take a while to clear immigration and customs with al the paper work but it did not. Immigration was just to give them the Certificate of Eligibility and get a stamp. And customs was equally fast. Just show the two customs declaration, get some stamps and it was done.

Then I went to the QL liner to hand over one of the customs declarations for my unaccompanied boxes that will arrive in 2 months or so. They needed a copy of my passprt as well.

I decided to go with the Narita Express (instead of bus) to the Shinagawa station. There I changed to JR Yamanote line to Meguro station where I took a taxi home.

In the night Chie and I went to Yasaka to celebrate that I finally came back to Japan.
