Salt Pond

Stayed in the shadow all day at the Salt Pond. Was a bit burned since yesterday, not seriously but better to be careful.

On our way home we saw beautiful rainbows. Many of them. Appearing and then disappearing as sudden as they appeared.

On the evening we had sashimi and leftovers for dinner.

Poipu Beach [updated]

It was a hot day at the Poipu beach. We spent most of it reading, swimming and making acquaintance with a new friend… A bit chicken though as he did not dare eating from Chie’s hand 🙂

Next to us was a couple where the male looked familiar, though a bit older than my memory and it was difficult to place him… Where had I seen him?

I am pretty sure I’d seen h in some TV series. Hospitals keep popping up so it might have been a TV series about hospitals. Or lawyers. I’ll have to search the net.

At 4:45 pm we went to Poipu shopping village. Walked around looking in stores without buying anything, but a Girl’s book about surfing.

After that we went grocery shopping. Tonight is herb chicken night. And I’ll have homemade Black Orange – any Swede out there that remember that drink?

[update] OK, I looked the guy up and I am 85% sure (scientifically calculated ;-)) that it was Adam Arkin from Chicago Hope.

Polihale and Kiahuna

Woke up early in the morning by heavy rain. Slept some more and hopes it would go away. It did…

Until we unpacked all our things at the Poipu beach. Then it started to rain again.

So what to do? Well, in Kauai the most likely place to find the sun is in the south-west. So we went to Salt Pond. Arriving there it rained.

We continue further west to Polihae via some miles of dirt roads. At Polihae the sun was not shining but it was not raining, at least not when we arrived 😉

We spent an hour or so at Polihae, eating lunch and enjoying the last beach before the magnificent Napali coast. And then it started to rain 🙂

Well, if yo cannot go further west you have to go back east. We returned to Kiahuna beach… Where it rained, but only for a few minutes. The last few hours of the day here was sunny. And the waves was as usual fun to play in 🙂

Before returning home we stopped at Kukuiula shopping village where they had an organic market. Chie bought some Kauai grown award winning coffee. I bought a piece of blueberry pie and vanilla ice cream for desert… After eating crab cream sauce pasta that is 🙂

Moloa Bay and Poipu

In the morning we drove up to Moloa Bay again. It was as great as usual until around 3 pm when it got really overcast and dark, looking like rain was coming.

So by 3:30 pm we packed up and went back home. Stopping only to buy groceries and some kalbi (Korean short ribs).

We returned home too early for dinner so we took minimal of things with us and walked to a small beach about 5 minutes away. There we watched the boogie boarders riding the waves. When that got boring we read some.

By 7 pm we were back home again, preparing dinner. Grilled kalbi, kimchi, rice and salad.

Relaxing Day

Today was another day at the Kiahuna beach. We woke up late and we wanted shade at the beach so Kiahuna was a good option for us.

As always the waves was quite big, and fun to play in.

In between playing in the waves we relaxed in the sun part of the time and in the shade of the palm trees part of the time.

At 5:30 pm we returned home for dinner. Tonight it was pasta arabiata.
