National Holiday

It was especially nice to wake up in the morning today and realize that you did not have to go to the office. National holiday in Japan.

At 9 am Coco was pickeup by his beauty salon to get a shampoo and a haircut. The rest of us stayed at home relaxing, enjoying the silence without Coco and missing him at the same time.

By 12 pm Chie and I got in the car to pick Coco up at the beauty salon. He was really happy to see us… Well most of all he was happy to see Chie. For some reason, well I can kind of understand it, he loves Chie more than anything. And everytime she is leaving him, even if just to go to the bathroom, he get anxious and want to go looking for her.

Coco and Chie

Once back home again we took Coco for a 40 minutes walk. And then we had to go back to Tokyo.

In the evening we re-packed our things for next weekends trip to San Franscisco. Shimura-san cannot make it to the game so we will not have a tail gate party, and thus do not need to bring so many things. After re-packing we went to Rosai. An Indian restaurant not far from the apartment. It was nice food.

Dinner at Koimo in Shimbashi

After work I went to Yorakucho station with the Yamanote-sen to meet Chie. Actually, we met at a crossing just outside of the Estnation close to Bic Camera. From there we walked to the Hello Kitty store to have short look before continuing almost all the way to Shimbashi station before finding the Koimo restaurant.

Okoshi-san and Ito-san were already waiting for us when we arrived. After a while Ishikawa-san joined us. We talked, ate, and had a very fun time before we had to return home.

On our way to the Shimbashi station some old Japanese gentleman joined us. His legs were a bit unsteady (probably too much sake in one of them). He started talking to us and once he heard that I was from Sweden he started to ramble on about Gustaf Adolf and how bad it was that he was dead. I am not a master of history but I think that particular Swedish king has been dead for quite a while.

RNJ @ Yoshiman

After work I went to Yurakucho station with the JR Yamanote-sen. My destination was Yoshiman kushi-yaki (Japanese BBQ) restaurant in Ginza. It took a while to find it, it went left when I should have turned right and it took about 5 minutes to get to the restaurant.

Chie, Mash-san and Oide-san was already there. Mash-san and Oide-san had been there since 5 pm but Chie arrived around 6 pm and I turned up 6:15 pm. We had a lot of kushi-yaki and talked about the upcoming trip to San Francisco and Raiders game. Only two weeks away now. Before leaving we had two different types of rice as well, cooked the old way.

Mash-san joined Chie and me walking to the Yurakucho station where he got on a train to Tokyo station and on to Shizuoka. Chie and I continued to a book store where I bought two Jeffery Archer books. Before we went back home.

Taiwanese Restaurant

Sunday was a grey day. I had an hours walk with Coco. Stopping a lot to sniff some stuff. Not me but Coco. When we got back home he was tired but still wanted to play with his new toy, a stuffed pumpkin.

For dinner we went to a Taiwanese restaurant in Tokorozawa. I don’t know the name. And we were the only customers. But the owners were friendly enough and the food was quite OK. Although Chie’s Chinese dishes are better.

Enya in Tokorozawa

This weekend we went to Tokorozawa again. Coco had been waiting for us since our last visit. On Saturday I went for a walk with him for 1 hour and 30 minutes. It was still warm enough outside to wear a t-shirt and use flip-flops. At first Coco didn’t want to leave Chie behind but as we left the house behind he seemed OK and even seemed to enjoy the walk.

We went to a small baseball field not far away. And took a dirt road next to it to get out between some fields where they were growing some vegetables. There were so many things for Coco to check out, stop and sniff. At the end of the dirt road were some chestnut trees. And two men were sitting under the trees relaxing, drinking sake. They waved at Coco and me to join them so we walked over there and had a talk before we continued our walk.

Next stop was the tea factory. Coco got scared of some big trucks passing by on our way to the tea factory. And he got scared again when we arrived at the tea factory since they have an old dog there. And it doesn’t matter how small or nice the dogs are… Coco is afraid of them all. Anyway, I bought a bag of green tea and then we walked home.

In the evening we brought Coco to the Enya restaurant in Shin-Tokorozawa. It’s a kushiyaki (Japanese BBQ) restaurant that has an outdoor area where dogs are allowed.

We had so much food there. For three people. Including ginger ale and and beer and a bottle of white wine. Still it was only 10000 JPY (660 SEK).

After the dinner we went back home. And I shared an ice cream with Coco. One bite for me and one for Coco. I think he really wanted to have my bite as well… But that was MY bite, so he could not have it.
